Affordable Housing Project
During 2018, the Horizon Housing Group integrated with the Community Housing Limited (CHL) Group of Companies. CHL is a national and international housing provider delivering affordable housing in four regions of the world. CHL currently has a portfolio of more than 11,000 properties under management in Australia across six States including Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania. In Australia, CHL provides end-to-end affordable housing development and a long-term housing and tenancy management operations.
As part of the CHL Group, HHR partners with key funding partners, community stakeholders and other organisations to provide end-to-end affordable housing development and long-term housing and tenancy management operations.
Tweed BBRC - Hundred Hills Estate
Murwillumbah 2484 New South Wales
Funded via the Federal Government’s Building Better Regional Cities programme, the Horizon Housing Group partnered with Tweed Shire Council and Stockland to provide 52 affordable housing lots for sale and rent in Hundred Hills estate, Murwillumbah.
Horizon’s second mortgage over the property is interest-free, has no charges, and is only repayable when the property is sold. The second mortgage is fixed at the initial value of 25% of the purchase price paid for the land, and so does not increase over time. There is no fixed or maximum length of time the investor can hold the property and the 25% fixed amount will only ever become repayable when the property is sold.
It is our mission to deliver affordable housing solutions, and we are seeking to close the gap between the rental market and home ownership. We know that the price of home ownership is out of reach for many people.
Undertaking of these works not only helped to alleviate housing stress in the Tweed region but enabled further stages of the development to be brought forward including parks, community recreation areas and trunk infrastructure.
